My Kansas City based website development company, TooBaRoo Internet Marketing launched a new site, CorporateInternetStrategy.com, devoted to marketing enterprise level internet strategy consulting services to its new and existing clients.

We detected a need for this type of independent enterprise-level consulting service. It has been my experience that too often marketing stakeholders are receiving their Internet strategy and marketing advice from the same individuals who are charged with developing those systems. Being an independent, consulting only, solution, we are able to provide our clients with honest, valuable information and recommendations based upon our own knowledge and experiences in the areas of Internet development and Internet marketing.
CorporateInternetStrategy.com – Content Plan
We plan on periodically posting blog entries devoted to related to Corporate Internet Strategy as they relate to Marketing Resource Management, the creation and maintenance of multiple sites, corporate domain name portfolio Management and developing an efficient Corporate Internet Strategy framework. This future content will be summaries of lessons that we have learned while operating TooBaRoo Internet Marketing my Kansas City Internet Marketing & Development Company.
CorporateInternetStrategy.com – Continuing Internet Education
Another aspect of the CorporateInternetStrategy.com will be to introduce a series of lunch and learn type seminars that are part of an informal Internet Marketing curriculum TooBaRoo is developing. A key element our Corporate Internet Strategy business plan is to create an ongoing relationship with our clients through continued education. We want to make them better internet marketers by not only adding some standardization in their corporate procedures but by also increasing their internet education level.
Under The Hood: About the New Site – Wordpress + Headway + A Few Hours
TooBaRoo created the site using WordPress and the new HeadwayTheme framework. It was an interesting learning process. This was our first use of Headway. The site was up and running within a few hours of installation. Minimal “tweaking” was done to the standard theme, but some additional css styles and leaf elements will be added post launch. Our goal was to get the site up and running prior to a Webmaster Radio appearance related to corporate domain portfolio management scheduled for Wednesday, 09/29/2009 so that we could drop the URL during the show to drive some traffic to the new site.

Webmaster Radio

Samson Zoom H4n Digital Podcast Recorder
I have been looking at upgrading the TooBaRoo Podcast Production and Domain Licensing Corporation Podcast Production equipment. After doing extensive online research and having a couple of conversations with a few podcasters. We’ve decided on using the Samson Zoom H4n for our podcasts.
I attended a couple of tradeshows and was interviewed by a few podcasters using the predecessor of the Zoom H4n, the H4. After listening to the shows and knowing the recording conditions, I was greatly impressed. Consequently, I was predisposed to the H4. Now that the H4n is available we thought we would upgrade/supplement our current Samson USB mics to these digital recorders.
Why The New Podcasting Equipment?
I am beginning pre-production on a few upcoming podcasts involving Internet Marketing and Analytics. The Internet Marketing Experts at TooBaRoo Internet Marketing in Kansas City will act as the podcast producers and also provide the weekly/monthly hosts. They will interview other internet marketing professionals and service and application providers. Each show will cover topics involving internet strategy and internet marketing. Domain Licensing Corporation, a domain monetization company, owns the domain InternetMarketingCast.com the initial podcast will launch under this URL.
If you have any other Podcasting equipment recommendations or experiences with the Samson Zoom H4n please send us your comments.
The cyber land rush for FaceBook “Vanity URL’s” started on June 11 at 12:00:01 AM. I was in the mix early and got my first choice of “InternetConsulting”. I was going back and forth between “internet marketing” versus “internet consulting” versus “internet development” However, since you are stuck with this name, I thought that broader area of “internet consulting” would be the better name in the long run. See my new FaceBook Moniker below…

My New Facebook Vanity URL is "Internet Consulting"
Being a domainer since 1997-1998, made me realize that getting in early on a land rush can make all the difference. The FaceBook community is huge, as of 04/09 approximately 200 Million Users. — That was up about 50 million since January 2009. Not Bad.
Consequently, I wanted to represent myself in that community with a more descriptive and easier to spell name than “Breht Burri”. There are too many spelling variations of both “Breht” and “Burri”. Furthermore, It does not describe what I primarily do for a living, which is Internet Consulting for TooBaRoo LLC, in the areas of Internet Marketing and Internet Development. So going forward my Facebook page, which needs to be updated and completed, will be http://facebook.com/internetconsulting. Check back in a few weeks, hopefully I will have added some content to that new FaceBook page.
Domain Licensing Corporation recently launched (November 2008) a Joomla CMS based Domain Name Marketplace site called DNoploy.com. The DNopoly.com site was created as a place to direct prospective domain buyers to some of the domain names for sale by Domain Licensing Corporation and/or its clients and partners.

DNopoly.com | Domain Name Marketplace & Brokerage
Domain Licensing Corporation is trying to sell about 5% of its domain inventory per year to fund further development of its domain name portfolio. A database database driven site was needed to organize the thousands of pages of inventory and domain listings.
Joomla provided us with a quick out of the box Content Management start for the framework. However, the majority of the pages are Joomla wrapped pages driven by a custom MySQL database that categorizes and organizes the Domain Names. Rather than build a web based admin frontend for the MySQL backend we are using FileMaker Pro to administer the Domain Name content. FileMaker’s ability to link directly to the MySQL data saves development time on projects that have only a small number of admin users. A few filemaker seats are easily more economical than building a custom backend management tool. FileMaker’s out of the box MySQL connectivity allowed us to save significant development time, and give use future development flexibility by avoiding each front end change also causing additonal admin access programming.
BREHT BURRI
Each week I listen to dozens of podcasts and I’ve been doing this for several years. Over the years that I have subscribed to, dropped and/or re-subscribed to hundreds of podcasts. Most of these are in the areas of Internet Marketing, SEO, Social Media, Affiliate Marketing, Domain Names, Politics and Film. From that list of podcasts a few fall into my “Anticipation List”.
“Anticipation List podcasts are the casts that cause you to open iTunes and click the podcast refresh button because you hope a new episode has been uploaded.” — Breht Burri
Here are the casts that meet this criteria for me in couple of different topic areas…
1. Filmspotting – Movies | Movie reviews, interviews and top 5 lists
with Adam Kempenaar and Matty Robinson. One of the best podcasts on the internet. Talented but self-deprecating hosts who are serious about film make this a great hour of cinema talk. | Weekly, sometimes more.
2. 10 Golden Rules – Internet Marketing | Published A few times a month
3. Academy Internet – Internet Marketing | Published Weekly most of the Time
4. Domain Masters – Domaining | A Podcast for professional Domainers from Webmaster Radio. | Weekly
5. Hugh Hewitt - Talk Radio | Conservative Los Angeles based, nationally syndicated, KRLA Talk Radio with less monaloguing and more dialoging. Hugh’s show features qualified experts, interesting regular contributors. (Subscribers Page). | 3 Hours Daily
6. Dennis Prager - Talk Radio | Conservative Los Angeles KRLA Talk Radio with less political talk than “normal” talk radio . A weekly mix of morality, theology, family, marriage, happiness and topical news. | 3 Hours Daily.
7. The Economist – World Events | A abridged audio version of the Economist magazine. | Weekly
8. TWIL “This Week In Law” – Law | Rountable type discussion of Legal topics | One a month, sometimes less.
This is a follow-up to the recent article, “When the Ranking Gets Tough – The Tough Get Ranking.”
You just have to love wordpress! Four days after swapping my circa 2001 flash/HTML Breht.com site out for a WordPress 2.7 Breht.com site. I am back on page one of Google with two listings from this site, and my linkedin page is toggling between page 1-2 of the google results.

breht.com results as of 12/18/2008
As soon as the WorPress All in One SEO pack gets working in WordPress version 2.7, I’ll see what I can do about getting some other pages on page 1, and also bumping up to the very top.
However, for now it is good to be back on page 1 with multiple pages. NOTE: There are 8,540,000 – 8,600,000 (it varies) Google pages that are returned when search for “Breht” in quotes. Three hits on the first page is a satisfactory result.
Next step, get my Xing, com profile completed, and see if I can bump that up to page 1 also on a first name only search.
One of my previous posts recently noted that my linkedin page was out ranking my blog in a Google Search for my own first name, BREHT. Because, the linkedin page is getting more Google search traffic than the new blog, I updated the Breht Burri linkedin page from 5% complete to 90% complete.

linkedin-breht-burri-profile
I’m and not sure how a 5% completed linkedin profile became ranked above my own blog when searching for my own first name, However, I intend to pull myself up the Google ladder by swapping some links with my own profile.
NOTE: I may change my name to “mesothelioma lawyer” and then complete a 5% linkedin page to see how well I do in the Google rankings. Granted it is a more competitive term, but it might be an interesting experiment.
The Problem:
First, it was recently brought to my attention that when performing a search for the word “Breht” Google has inserted the words “Did you mean: brecht” at the top of the search results.

bertold-brecht-burri
This above result may or may not be new. The Google result implies my name is a typo.
Second, historically I’ve been able to search for my name and find it near the top of Google search results. However, now that linkedin and facebook pages are being ranked really well with minimal user effort, I have dropped to the second and sometimes third page of Google because of these social/business site pages with similarly named people.
A Further Complication:
People often misspell my first name and/or last name. The name can legitimately be spelled in a variety of ways. Some of the common variations of the “genuine” and “official” spelling of “Breht Burri” are below:
Breht Burri, Breht Buri, Breht Burry
Bret Burri, Bret Buri, Bret Burry
Brett Burri, Brett Buri, Brett Burry
Brent Burri, Brent Buri, Brent Burry
Brecht Burri, Brecht Buri, Brecht Burry
The Possible Solution & My New Motto:
When the ranking gets tough, the tough get ranking.
– Breht Burri, SEO Consultant & Internet Marketing Specialist
I’m performing an experiment with this blog post. By including some of the most common variations of my first name, (Bret, Brett, Brent and Brecht) I hope those typo/misspelled/variation queries will also include results from this particular site. In a few weeks I’ll post some more snapshots to see how this is working. Until then, if you are looking for me on the first page of Google type in “Breht Burri” in quotes. FYI: I’m still number 1 on Yahoo as of 12/14/2008. (See Below)
